‘Seek and ye shall find’

I heard an amazing talk the other day at a conference in London I was photographing. The gentleman in question was  Gary Vaynerchuk a 35 year old New York Times and Wall Street Journal Best-Selling author who is also a self-trained wine and social media expert. It wasn’t his wine business he was there to talk about but social media, internet 2.0 or whatever you wish to call it. I don’t intend to regurgitate everything he said, that can be found on his blog, however I did find it a timely reminder about how important social media now is. So here without further ado is where I can be found:

My business Facebook page Andrew Perkins Photography a good way to keep up with the latest information.

Twitter page andrewsperkins odd ramblings and fun stuff.

Flickr Page andy._p not used for my business but a showcase for my personal work, mainly street photography.

Tumblr still have to get my head around tumblr, just a few post at present but that will change.

Formspring go on ask me a question on formspring!

And finally, one of my favourites at the moment Pinterest a good place to share random things.

Hello Ava!

This is the gorgeous 5 day old Ava.

Sometimes when photographing babies as young as this you have to carefully consider what you ask new Mums to do to get a good photograph. I saw this wooden hand sculpture and it just had to be used.

Well in this case it was easy to ask…the Mum in question is my partner’s sister! Well done Becky and Ian what a beautiful little girl you have.

Fishley Ladies Shoot

Just before Christmas Candice and Phil asked me if I would come along and photograph their ladies shoot in January this year. Having grown up in the country shooting seemed to be an almost everyday event over the winter months but I have never really understood how it all worked and so was keen to find out.

When the day arrived I was kick started into action…double espresso from the most amazing coffee machine in a home kitchen I’ve ever seen. Perfetto! Once everybody had arrived it was into the trailer and off. Our location for the days shoot was Fishley a tiny village sandwiched between Acle and Upton…amazing I’ve lived in the area for years and never realised it existed.

After the first couple of ‘drives’ (see I know all the terms now), I began to get a feel for the best place to position myself to get shooter and pheasant in the viewfinder at the same time. The labradors did their duty without fail, the birds found, returned and dropped at their owners feet. We stopped for a break after an hour or two, for refreshment and then on for another hour to lunch. After a warming mulligatawny soup we left the ‘Fishley Arms’ to find the skies cleared for a last crisp, cold but beautiful afternoon session.

I had a lovely day, good company, beautiful countryside and great food. I must say thank you to all involved for allowing me access, I’m sure I must have put you off your aim now and then and for that I apologise. I hope you enjoy the photographs.

Photos that make you smile

It was a bit of sad end to last year we lost our much loved and loyal chocolate labrador Wesley.

Whether we had another dog was not in debate but when we should get one was a dilemma. Straight away and risk him not matching up to Wesley or leave it a while and be sad without a dog about the house.

Straight away was the decision…

We were lucky, we chose well.

I’ve taken plenty of photographs of him but this one just makes us all smile, long live Boris!

Tim’s 40th Birthday Party

That time has come again…the post Christmas period. The weather is awful, I’ve eaten too much during the festivities and to cap it all the holiday is over.

So to cheer myself up this blog post is a few of my favourite shots from Tim’s 40th Birthday party shot back in the last few days of summer 2011.

Well done Tim and remember…life begins at forty, least I think I can remember back that far!
